BuffaloQTLdb:
A database for Buffalo QTL

About database

BuffaloQTLdb is the first manually curated database for buffalo QTL, which could be utilized by buffalo research community in meta analysis for the development of better breeds and management of various stress conditions in buffalo. Most of the economically important traits in buffalo are quantitative traits such as milk production and its quality, reproduction, health, exterior, Meat and carcass, and production traits etc. Quantitative trait analysis is important for the selection and production of high yielding buffalo individuals/breeds. Interval mapping is the most efficient approach for QTL analysis, yet not easy in case of buffalo. However, due to advancement of next-generation sequencing techniques, there is an increase in number of studies involving GWAS (genome wide association studies) analysis to find marker trait associations (MTAs), which has been witnessed in past few years. Therefore, a sum of 139580 QTL/MTAs of buffaloes were collected and manually curated from the published litrature upto August, 2025. Additionally, 292 heritability and 1260 correlation scores among various trait pairs were also extracted and added in BuffaloQTLdb.
